It HAS been awhile since I have posted for Kelsey's week and things have occurred in Kelsey's life. She had a follow up appointment at the cardiologist in the middle of August and the news was good in that it wasn't bad. She is doing well on her meds, her heart sounds clear and there is little evidence of a murmur or arrhythmia but her heart size has remained the same. Dr DeSana was surprised expecting it to have worsened. She said if Kelsey's heart stayed as it is, her prognosis for survival was good! Although I had hoped to hear her heart had improved, but I guess I will be very happy for what we got.
Unfortunately two days after Kelsey had her appointment with Dr Desana, she tore her left cranial cruciate ligament while doing a temperament test. We saw Dr DeCamp at the Animal Surgical Center of Michigan who recommended a TPLO but only with Dr DeSana's OK. Dr DeSana thought it would be to risky to do surgery with Kelsey's heart sooooo... Now we have ordered Kelsey a knee brace from Hero Brace for the bargain price of $800, well it is less than the $3000 surgery.
Kelsey has been sad for the last few weeks since she has not been able to go out and play and dancing is problematic with only one functioning rear leg. I hear great things about this brace and I hope it will get my girl up and dancing again.
